About this course
Automated testing is no longer a luxury in enterprise application development — it’s a necessity. ServiceNow’s Automated Test Framework (ATF) empowers developers, administrators, and QA professionals to validate application changes quickly and confidently without manual testing overhead.
In this comprehensive, hands-on course, you’ll learn everything from ATF basics to advanced automation strategies. We’ll start with understanding the ATF interface and creating your first automated tests, then dive deep into modular test design, regression testing, CI/CD integration, and troubleshooting.
You’ll see real ServiceNow examples that simulate real user actions — clicking buttons, filling forms, validating workflows, and even testing APIs — all while ensuring your platform’s stability after each update or deployment.
Whether you’re a developer aiming to catch defects early, a QA engineer looking to automate repetitive test cases, or an administrator wanting to safeguard production, this course gives you practical skills to plan, execute, and manage automated tests effectively.
By the end, you’ll have the confidence to implement ATF as part of your regular development lifecycle, saving time, reducing risk, and improving software quality.
What you’ll learn
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Understand the fundamentals of Automated Test Framework (ATF) in ServiceNow and why it’s essential for faster, safer deployments.
Navigate the ATF interface and create, configure, and organize test suites effectively.
Build different types of automated tests including form validation, server-side scripts, and REST API tests.
Simulate real-world user actions using step configurations to mimic clicks, form fills, and workflow paths.
Design reusable and modular test steps to reduce maintenance and improve scalability of your testing strategy.
Integrate ATF into development workflows, ensuring changes are validated before moving to higher environments.
Use test templates for faster creation of standard tests across applications and modules.
Debug and troubleshoot failed tests using ATF logs, execution history, and system diagnostics.
Leverage ATF for regression testing, ensuring new releases or updates don’t break existing functionality.
Plan and execute end-to-end test strategies for both out-of-the-box and custom ServiceNow applications.
Collaborate with development and QA teams by sharing test results and integrating ATF with CI/CD pipelines.
Adopt best practices for naming conventions, test organization, and performance optimization within ATF.
